Greetings from the Principal: Claudia Castañón

Claudia Castañón, school principal of The Linguistic Academy of El PasoIt is my great honor and privilege to serve as The Linguistic Academy of El Paso’s principal for the 2022-23 academic year. I began working with Burnham Wood Charter School District in the 2020-21 academic year. During the previous two years, I have served as the Assistant Principal (AP) at Da Vinci School for Science and the Arts, Howard Burnham Elementary School, and The Linguistic Academy of El Paso. While serving as AP, I have been fortunate enough to work alongside some of the most dedicated educators around and have learned how to best serve the students and parents of our district. Setting our students up for success begins with understanding the unique needs of our students and how to best meet those needs at both an individual and group-level. Throughout my experiences within larger ISDs, one aspect that sets Burnham Wood aside from the rest is the sense of community and collaboration. Our classroom teachers hold a strong belief that all students are capable of high-level achievement, both academically and societally. Our teachers work side-by-side with campus-level and district-level administration to ensure they are providing all the necessary building blocks to help our students reach their full potential. Additionally, Burnham Wood staff regularly collaborates with community stakeholders to provide high-quality experiences and exposure for our students.

During my tenure as principal, families can rest assured all students will continue to be treated with dignity and respect, as is the Burnham Wood standard. I will continue to work with our incredible teachers to ensure we are creating an environment conducive for growth and development. As a top-tier dual-language campus, we offer several academic and fine arts extracurricular activities, including but not limited to: flag football, basketball, soccer, track and field, cheerleading, violin, piano, guitar, Russian, Chinese, and Portuguese. We also encourage students to explore, find new passions, and advocate for the activities they want to see in their schools.

As we venture into a new academic year, I am confident The Linguistic Academy of El Paso will be able to continue providing top-quality instruction through the utilization of collaboration, communication, and dedication. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve you and your young scholar. I am looking forward to the incredible achievements we will accomplish this year.
Sincerely,
Claudia Castañón
Principal
