Summer Programs at Howard Burnham Elementary

The Burnham Wood Family of Charter Schools provides a variety of programs over the summer to ensure your child’s academic success. For programs limited to specific grades, these grades refer to the student’s grade during the 2016-2017 school year unless otherwise specified.

  • Bilingual Summer Program: Make sure your Bilingual student is ready for next year with our Bilingual Summer Program. This program is for kindergarteners in the Bilingual program or students who will enter kindergarten next school year and qualify. June 12-July 10, Monday to Friday, 8 A.M.-2 P.M.
  • Beginning of Year Summer School and Writing Camps, grades 1-4: Give your student a head start on next year with our Beginning of Year Summer School and Writing Camps. July 31-August 4, Monday to Friday, 8 A.M.-2:30 P.M.

The following program is open to all students, including those who do not attend the Burnham Wood family of charter schools. This program will be held on the Da Vinci campus:

  • Burnham Wood Summer Music & Art Academy: This week-long summer program mixes lessons in string instruments with visual arts. The program is open to anyone between the ages of five and eighteen, regardless of whether they attend any of the Burnham Wood family of charter schools. For more information about the program and how to enroll, see the summer music and art academy page. August 7-11, Monday to Friday, 9 A.M.-2 P.M.

The following summer school program is not provided by Howard Burnham Elementary, but is open to Howard Burnham students who meet the age requirements:

  • Chess Camp: Improve your strategic thinking and learn to make smart decisions at this week-long chess camp. This camp is open to students aged 6-12 and will be held at Reyes Elementary. For information about how to enroll, see the chess camp flyer. June 19-23, Monday to Friday, 9:30 A.M.-12 P.M.
