Welcome Message from Superintendent Gonzalez

Welcome Message from Superintendent Gonzalez

Dear Parents,

We want to welcome both you and your child back to school. There will be several events throughout the year that will allow for you to get to know your child’s teachers and their learning environment. If there is anything that you need from the campus, please feel free to reach out to your child’s Principal or Assistant Principal for assistance. We feel that the partnership between parent and teacher is essential in the learning process of all children. Every campus strives to differentiate for all learners, whether it be visual, kinesthetic, or audio learning styles. We are prepared and excited about teaching your child. This year, every teacher has received Gifted and Talented (GT) training in August to help our teachers to differentiate for all learners. Our strong pre-AP (Advanced Placement) curriculum helps prepare our middle school students for the high school Advanced Placement (AP) coursework that is to follow in the 11th and 12th grades. Our high school students get the opportunity to take up to twelve dual credit classes from a Texas university to help ensure that they transfer over to a major university and that your child receives college credit. All other college/university course work is given at a much more rigorous AP level that again ensures that college credit transfers over to any university in the United States and abroad. Our Juniors and Seniors participate in the University of Alabama at Huntsville InSPIRESS competition. This is a NASA competition that we have been invited to for the past four years. Da Vinci School for Science and the Arts has won first and second place awards in all areas for the past three years. Da Vinci School for Science and the Arts is a TEA Role Model T-STEM Academy. Da Vinci was one of the first T-STEM academies in Texas and has received the highest TSTEM designation for a STEM Academy. All three of our schools have received awards and designations by the State of Texas because we strive every year to outperform ourselves. Our Vista del Futuro campus has been a TEA state and federal recognized campus. Da Vinci School for Science and the Arts has been recognized by TEA for two years in a row.

Our schools also have a lot to offer our students in the arts. We have a thriving Band, Choir, Dance, Guitar, and Art program at Da Vinci. Our elementary schools have the exclusive Suzuki violin training at both east and west campuses. We have an athletic program at Da Vinci that encompasses volleyball, basketball, and soccer. All three campuses have robotics clubs and Da Vinci School for Science and the Arts competes in three robotics competitions throughout the year at local and regional competitions. If your child has two programs that he or she wants to attend, but they do fit their schedule, we offered the programs after school as well. This brings me to the most important part of our schools, and that is your child’s safety. Your child’s teacher will pick up their class every morning and bring them into the building. At the end of the day, your child’s teacher will walk their class to the dismissal gates to ensure that they are picked up by their guardian and that they are in safe hands. We take these extra measures because we realize how important your child’s safety is.

For those students that need extra help, we offer a variety of intervention systems from after school tutoring to Saturday tutoring to ensure that all students experience success throughout the years at our schools. Our cadre of teachers, support staff, and administrative staff is trained extensively in ESL/Bilingual, Special Education, Gifted and Talented, and differentiation strategies, which allow the teachers and staff to support the needs of all students. We look forward to having your child in our schools and value your input. I look forward to meeting you at school events.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Gonzalez
